ASTM5140 is the most commonly used alloy structural steel. The tensile strength, yield strength and hardenability are higher than 40 steel, but the weldability is limited and there is a tendency to crack formation. The ASTM5140 is used for more important tempering parts, such as parts operating under alternating load, medium speed and medium load parts.
