17-4PH Stainless Steel Sheets, Coils and Plates - AMS 5604, UNS S17400 :
17-4 PH is a Martensitic, Chromium-Nickel-Copper precipitation hardening Stainless Steel. 17-4PH Stainless Steel is capable of attaining a wide range of strength and toughness properties depending on the precipitation or aging temperature used in hardening. Its valuable combination of High Strength, Good Corrosion Resistance and Toughness in both base metals and welds gives designers opportunities to add reliability to their products while simplifying fabrication and often reducing costs. High strength is maintained to approximately 600°F (316°C). This material has good resistance to stress corrosion cracking in the lower strength conditions.
Stainless Steel 17-4 PH Plates & Sheets is prized for its ability to simplify fabrication and manufacturing processes, which can result in significant cost savings and reductions. Engineers all over the world rely on this PH stainless steel as a solution to pressing logistical problems in Product Design, Manufacturing and Processing.
Alloy 17-4PH :
Alloy 17-4PH is a precipitation hardening martensitic stainless steel with Cu and Nb / Cb additions. The grade combines high strength, hardness (up to 572°F /300°C), and corrosion resistance. Mechanical properties can be optimized with heat treatment. Very high yield strength up to 1100-1300 MPa (160-190 ksi) can be achieved.
Alloy 17-4PH (UNS S17400), W. Nr. 1.4542 Type 630 is A Precipitation-Hardening Martensitic Stainless with High Strength and Hardness and Good Corrosion Resistance. The 17-4 stainless steel grade is an age-hardening martensitic alloy that combines high corrosion resistance and strength. Unlike conventional martensitic steels, it weldable by all standard methods, and achieves hardening with simple low-temperature treatment over a short period of time. This product is a cost-effective replacement for high strength carbon steels as well as other stainless grades as it has a high strength and resistant to corrosion.
General Properties of Stainless Steel Alloy 17-4 PH :
Alloy 17-4PH (UNS S17400), Type 630, is a Chromium-Nickel-Copper precipitation-hardening martensitic stainless steel with an addition of niobium. 17-4PH combines high strength and hardness with good corrosion resistance.
The alloy is furnished in the solution annealed condition (Condition A). It should not be used at temperatures above 572°F (300°C) or for cryogenic service. Optimal mechanical properties can be obtained by subjecting the alloy to age hardening heat treatments. Heat treatment in the 900°F (482°C) range produces the highest strength.
The corrosion resistance of Alloy 17-4PH is comparable to 304 Stainless Steel in most environments, and is generally superior to the 400 series stainless steels. It is used in applications where the combination of moderate corrosion resistance and unusually high strength are required. Alloy 17-4PH can be easily welded and processed by standard shop fabrication practices. It is magnetic.
New Arise Metal stocks 17-4 PH Stainless Steel. 17-4 PH is a chromium-nickel grade of stainless that may be hardened by a single low temperature precipitation-hardening heat treatment. Excellent mechanical properties at a high strength level may be obtained by such treatment. Scaling and distortion is minimized. 17-4 PH should not be used in the solution treated condition. 17-4 machines well, has excellent welding characteristics, and forges easily. The combination of good mechanical and processing properties makes this grade adaptable to a wide range of uses. Alloy 17-4 PH withstands corrosive attacks better than any of the standard hardenable stainless steels and is comparable to Alloy 304 in most media.
